Sailing School
For the past 85 years, the Chicago Yacht Club has been a leader in teaching children and adults how to sail. Our courses provide the opportunity for children as young as five years old through adults to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy the sport of sailing.
Our courses are designed for specific ages and levels of experience ranging from the basics through sailing theory and advanced racing tactics.
Our programs feature:
- US SAILING certified instructors and coaches.
- Classes for all ages an experience levels: Beginner through Advanced.
- Convienient Belmont Harbor location.

Our Facility
The Sailing Activities Center, adjacent to Chicago Yacht Club's Belmont Harbor Station, features two classrooms, a sail storage area, workshop and restroom amenities. Our club's fleet of 420s, Optimists, Prams, and new Bugs reside on two floating docks alonside our activities center. The Chicago Yacht Club is proud to have one of the top sailing school facilities in the country.
